I wrote The Fishing Story in early 2021, directed by Vivian Gladwell, Nose to Nose Clowning and co-scripted with writer Harry ter Haar. It’s an autobiographical one woman show performed in clown.
The Fishing Story was inspired when I heard of the death of my much older brother Alvin in 2014, I knew very little about Alvin. In 2015, I embarked on a journey to New Zealand/Aotearoa - where Alvin had lived for over 50 years, to find out more about his life.
The Fishing Story is a playful and darkly comic story of family complexities, set in the volcanic Northland of New Zealand/Aotearoa, there I discovered it is never too late to renew a relationship with relatives who have died.
I also drew on the spiritual scientific research of Rudolph Steiner, (1861-1925) and his the lectures on the importance of the links between the living and the so called dead.
